I was just browsing through some old factoids I've kept on my hard drive in case I ever needed to use one of them for a book. Here's a funny one:
Studies have shown that hormonal changes in human females are caused by smelling the armpit sweat of human males. Among the alleged benefits of taking a big whiff o' pit: improved mood and the stimulation of ovulation. (So the next time you wanna get knocked up, you know what to do.)
Are we believing this study or was it concocted by a bunch of smelly men who don't like baths? You decide.

Well, you have to admit, if it's "clean" sweat, the unfermented kind...it's pretty darn irresistible. Phermones definitely work their chemical wonders when you least expect it!

I'd like to vote for the smelly man theory. Thanks :o)
Yeppers...I gotta agree with you 2. (And especially the "clean" sweat part lol) There must be something to it, but I do wonder WHAT. Maybe in prehistoric times sweaters were better hunters than non-sweaters or something? (Just a theory. Perhaps not one of my better ones but...!!)
Haven't you ever been with a guy and you just love the smell of his skin? And conversely, another man's physical presence will turn you right off, even if he's a perfectly nice person?
I knew I'd seen it somewhere - hope the link works - http://tinyurl.com/256jdt This is a summary of a TV program about human sexuality. (Heaps of interesting stuff for later blogs, Susan! *g*)
But scroll down to the paragraph about sweat. We're attracted to the mate with the immune system most different to our own - better prospects for offspring, you see.
Ain't Mama Nature amazing? No wonder she's a girl!
I agree with the "clean, manly" sweat. The earthy scent of a man who's been working outdoors, etc, can be very arousing. But actually smelling the guy's pits? Eeeew! That area's a bit too ripe for me.
Now, a man fresh from the shower, spritzed with Obsession for Men...mmmm, yum... :)
Thanks for the link, Denise. Very cool! I see a lot of interesting future topics ;-)
lol Jo! You make a good point. That's probably the mental image that turned Brynn off too *g*
That's fascinating about our being attracted to mates with different immune system, Denise. Makes for heartier offspring, I guess. Can't wait to check out that link.
A female friend has convinced me that this is true, that "pit stops" while traveling over a man are exhilarating and a definite turn-on. She and her man are always hot for one another is all I know.
This also makes me go hmm...wonder if that is how a lot of m/m stories in real life are prompted? I mean...gyms, working side by side, that sort of thing. If the theory is correct, then that male scent is rampant in those cases.
(Pardon me while I go work on a new m/m book now - ROFLMAO.)
There is a definite attraction to the clean sweat scent. I love to cuddle with the dh after a softball game or mowing the lawn.
Lyn, don't know, but a cool theory lol. LA, I agree!
"Hon, would you mind showering? I'm not in the mood to ovulate right now."
Heeee!
~Lindy
lol!!
