okay first ROFLMAO!!! Second, you are so right. Which makes me stop and ask ... does this make us as guilty of prejudice based on beauty as we accuse men of being? Oh crap, I hate it when these questions pop into my head, but I ask because when I was much younger, I had an older man as a friend/lover and while he was not a looker, he was a fabulous lover, which made him more appealing than the hunk-o-hunks.

So why is it that when guys like the hunky one give us the eye we're all a twitter, and when guys of the second persuasion eyeball us we dismiss them?

Don't you hate it when a gal goes all inward like this? (Just slap me Jaid!!)

This is the shot all people hate for someone to take of them...

Ciana, I think we are just as prejudiced as men, albeit usually for different reasons. Men typically want beautiful women and women typically want successful (read: well off) men.

Then there are women like ourselves, an ever increasing number of female breadwinners. I could give a shit about a man's job, but damn it he better cook and clean :-P

I hear that, Sally!! I can definitely empathize *whimpers*

I've gotta say, I don't want someone who's a lot prettier than me. I don't mind looking at pretty boys, but guys who are too good-looking sort of leave me cold on a personal level. I like some character in a face more than perfection.

That said, I am not attracted to men who don't take care of themselves and attend to basic fitness and personal hygiene. I think sometimes men forget that, no matter what their natural endowments, they are more attractive when they take a shower, trim that nose hair or scruffy beard, put on a clean shirt and lay off the doughnuts.

AMEN SUSAN!

I'm not into the pretty boy look either. Too weak in appearance (or something).

LMAO Jaid!! I'm with you - my man's got to have as much talent in the kitchen and with a mop as he does in the bedroom.

And Susan, I agree. Attractive is nice but the pretty boy thing kind of makes me yawn.

Sally - leave it to you to come u with the before and after comment :)

I too am turned on by the extremely rare sight of a man popping the hood of my car, pushing a lawnmower or flipping an omelet. I find a man with a fat wallet and a big cigar every bit as attractive. He doesn't need washboard abs to pick up the check.

Well, isn't that funny how women all agree? I definitely think the pretty ones are selfish lovers whereas the lacking men make up with enthusiasm. However, what makes the man on the right think he can attract any woman he wants, from a twenty year old to a supermodel? It boils down to man confidance, ladies. Something we figure out in our forties when we start enjoying doggy style without wondering what he's watching jiggle back there.

I do love looking at a pretty man....the problem is that he has to spend 6 hours a day in the gym to look like that. Which means he doesn't have a job, looks in the mirror WAY more than I do, and wants to move in with me so I can take care of him. No thanks! But I still don't want the pot-bellied guy. I'm so shallow :(

You're not shallow, Dragongirl. Nothing wrong with wanting a healthy man, and a potbelly is not a sign of health. What's wrong with wanting a man who takes care of himself financially and physically? That's the least you should expect from a man. The old ladies in the retirement homes have a saying about the broke and broken-down old farts looking for someone to take care of them: He's lookin' for a nurse with a purse.
