Kiss and Tell

What's in a kiss? A study published in Evolutionary Psychology queried 1,041 college students about their kissing behaviors and attitudes and found some interesting differences between the sexes. They found that women were a lot less likely than men to have sex without kissing first. In fact, women wanted more kissing than men before, during and after sex.
Men were more likely to view kissing as a way to end an argument than women were, and they prefer wetter kisses with more tongue than women do. Men were more likely than women to expect kissing to lead to sex. More men than women would have sex with someone who was a bad kisser, though both sexes said they had lost interest in someone they had been attracted to after a bad first kiss.

Researchers drew the following conclusions based on their research: Women use kissing to assess the suitability of men as long-term mates, whereas men used kissing to get laid and to resolve conflict.
What do you think? Would you have sex with a man who was a bad kisser? What makes a good kiss? Tell us about your most memorable kiss.

I don't think I'd have sex with a bad kisser. That just has "Danger Will Robinson" blaring in my head.

I want to know just how talented that tongue is before there's any action. ;)

I'm with you, Christine. These are the things studies like this don't seem to take into account. The way someone kisses definitely indicates overall sensuality and skill.

I agree. I love a man who has a slow, sensual kiss. Not a guy who stabs at my mouth with his tongue first thing. I love it when they put their whole mouth into it. Lips, teeth, tongue. Everything.

I like the kind of kiss that starts out light and teasing, then when he finally slips his tongue into your mouth, your starving for it...:)

A guy that can kiss like that is killer at foreplay...:)

Hahaha, that so reminds me of the guy that thrusts his big ole tongue into your mouth and you freeze as you fight the gag reflex!

LOL! You all make me laugh though I have to agree with you. You can tell a lot from a kiss.

I second everything all of you said. Hurried, wet sloppy, overly aggressive...nah-uh, certainly not at the start. Finesse and, yes, a gradual, teasing build-up are the ways to establish intensely sensual contact. (I feel the way you do, Trista!)

Many men fail to realize that kissing is truly an erotic art, and one that requires much more patience, skill and sensitivity than fucking--at which they ALL seem to think they excel. :-)

Forgot to add: It's kissing, I think, that sorts the men from the boys.

Lol, Rena! I hate having my tonsils swabbed.
Amen, KZ! Kissing is definitely a lost art that too few men bother to cultivate. It does separate the men from the boys, but sometimes I think boys were better at it than men are because they can't skip over it the way men do. Remember when you were young and kissing was all you did? How good were those kisses? Once you have sex and a place to do it, seems like most men just rush through the kissing part if they bother at all.

And just so we're all square, ladies...

That hasn't happened lately.

Sigh.

Susan Edwards said...

Does that sigh mean you'd settle for a bad kisser who triggers your gag reflex over no kisser?

Ugh.

Unfortunately, the sigh means I'd kiss a cat at this point.

I need to get out more.
